 The 8 Limbs of Yoga

  •  also known as Ashtanga Yoga, are a set of guiding principles outlined in the Yoga Sutras by the ancient sage Patanjali. These limbs serve as a comprehensive path for spiritual growth and self-discipline, leading to enlightenment. 
  • Here are the eight limbs:Yama (Moral Discipline): Ethical standards and integrity in how we treat others.
  • Ahimsa (Non-violence)Satya (Truthfulness)Asteya (Non-stealing)Brahmacharya (Moderation)Aparigraha (Non-possessiveness)Niyama
  •  (Self-Discipline): Personal observances and behaviors.Saucha (Purity)Santosha (Contentment)Tapas (Discipline)Svadhyaya (Self-study)Ishvara Pranidhana (Surrender to a higher power)Asana (Postures): 
  • The physical postures practiced in yoga, designed to prepare the body for meditation
  • .Pranayama (Breath Control): Techniques for controlling the breath and energy flow in the body.
  • Pratyahara (Withdrawal of the Senses): Turning inward by withdrawing attention from the external world.
  • Dharana (Concentration): Focusing the mind on a single point or object
  • .Dhyana (Meditation): Sustained, unbroken concentration leading to a meditative state
  • .Samadhi (Absorption): The ultimate goal of yoga, where the individual self merges with the universal consciousness, achieving enlightenment and inner peace.These limbs are meant to be practiced together, with each one supporting the others in the pursuit of spiritual growth and self-realization.
